The tasty FlordaKing peach tree is the best overall peach for North Florida -and for good reason! It was created by the University of Florida and has become very popular recently. The Florida peach tree produces delicious red-skinned and yellow-fleshed fruit that ripens in May and requires 500 Florida King Peach chill hours. The Florida King will flower beginning in February and should be fertilized in early spring for best results. This peach variety is semi-clingstone meaning its yellow flesh will grip the fruit's pit even while eating. These fleshed peach stone fruits have a long shelf life and are relatively disease-resistant especially to black bacterial spots. The cross-pollination from this tree is excellent for other peaches, plums, and nectarine trees. The FloridaKing peach variety is self fertile but will produce more fruit with other peaches nearby.
