This Drill Press came about as a personal project of the President of Grizzly. He wanted the convenience of a gearhead drill press with variable speeds, a digital speed readout, long spindle throw, nice beefy handles, a crossable with table power feed, and the most important feature, a power feed to move the heavy table up and down. This had not been done before and the factory's initial reaction was, we cannot do that. Not accepting that as an answer, several meetings were held with engineers and some special parts were made and, voila. We had a table which powered up and down.
